Yours is a voice that demands to be heard, though perhaps sometimes it should simply request.
He was one of pop's true and undisputed greats, and in a business that tends to save its biggest rewards for carefully managed personas, John Lennon was simply and adamantly a person -- a real and sometimes hard-to-take person who was as committed to his own views as he was unconcerned about their popularity. But be wary of congratulating yourself too much on your popstrologically undeniable potential for greatness, for very few conscience-of-my-generation types manage to get through life without their principled idealism coming off at least occasionally as strident self-righteousness. And very few people who watch cults of genius form around them avoid attracting the occasional admirer who is a bit too admiring for comfort. John Lennon was, quite famously, the cinnamon to Paul McCartney's sugar, or the vinegar to his oil, if you prefer. And therein lies an important lesson for those born under the influence of this powerful popstrological Spin-Off: cinnamon and vinegar are wonderful ingredients, but their appeal taken straight cannot compare with their appeal in the company of softer complements.
